The Windswept Cafe is proud to have yet another Newquay artist exhibiting this month. For the next month Toby Ray's paintings will adorn the walls, featuring calm and serene surfscapes, "escapism for the viewer", much needed at a time of year that is becoming more frenetic! The brand new originals priced from £50 would make perfect Christmas presents.

Escape into Windswept with Toby Ray
Toby is a fine art graduate from Devon now residing in Newquay. Since graduating in 2000 he has lived between Plymouth, St Merryn, Australia and New Zealand. Always with a surfboard in tow searching out uncrowded waves and inspiration for his artwork. His paintings are a reflection of these many surfscapes.
He has exhibited his work in many places including Cardiff, Plymouth,St Merryn and New Zealand." I find so much inspiration from the sea, whether I'm out surfing or just walking on the beach. Trouble is with the growing popularity of watersports in the world, the likelihood of catching a few waves by yourself is fairly rare. Therefore when I paint my surfscapes I never add any outside intrusions. They are left pure and perfect, a kind of escapism for the viewer".
All the canvases on show are new work, as Toby has just had a recent surge of interest and sold much of his work between agreeing to exhibit and hanging his work! Cafe owner Ruth Macpherson said "We are delighted to welcome Toby to our walls, especially as these particular works have not been seen before. Reasonably priced from £50.00, one of his originals would make a perfect Christmas present for the surfer in your life! Hopefully we won't be left with bare walls too soon!!"
The work is at Windswept until late December. The cafe is open every day from 10am, and is running a special 2 courses for £12.00 til the end of November on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Call the cafe on 01637 850793.
