Following the success of the monthly Pudding Night at The Windswept Cafe, it's only right that the cafe's delicious puds help make a difference in parts of the world where a Pudding Night would be a dream...25p from each pud sold in October going to fight hunger in Action Against Hunger's initiative.
"Fight Hunger, Eat Out" at the Windswept Cafe
Action Against Hunger has been working for 25 years to fight hunger in the world's poorest countries by providing when food is scarce, and more importantly providing the tools and skills that families need for a more sustainable lifeline.
Every October, "Fight Hunger, Eat Out" unites restaurants and chefs across the country as they invite everyone to eat out, and in the process make an active difference to world poverty. The Windswept Cafe on South Fistral Beach in Newquay has decided that this means guilt free puds! Owner Ruth Macpherson says:
"Pudding Night is fast becoming an institution at the cafe, and so it's only right that our puds should make a difference in this month of eating out to fight hunger. I am keen to raise at least £100 which means selling 400 puds, and I have great confidence that our customers can easily munch their way through those for this great cause! If anyone would like to attempt the 400 puds in one night, they'll have to let our chefs know in advance...and if they succeed I'll happily match the £100 we stand to raise!"
On Weds 17th the cafe is holding a Chocolate Heaven night to assist this process! You can enjoy 2 courses for £16 which includes a main course and our chef's divine chocolate concoctions. Dessert is a platter with a taster of 5 divine and chocolately inventions. Ruth said "I have a feeling that our chocoholic fans won't be able to pass up the opportunity of enjoying a taste of 5 chocolate desserts...bring it on!"
If you would like to help the cafe raise the £100, come and enjoy a pudding any time in October. The cafe is open every day so call 01637 850793 for opening hours or to book a table for Chocolate Heaven.
