Scouting For Girls Headlining the Event
Further into the evening, top ten band of the moment Scouting For Girls took to the stage and entertained the enthusiastic crowds with their catchy melodies including current single 'She's So Lovely' and recent chart success 'It's Not About You'. The pop stars also said that they'd had an amazing time in Newquay, having taken to the surf in a lesson earlier in the day, and that they hoped to be back soon.
Following Scouting for Girls, Sowena and The Truths entertained on the Newquay Live Stage and DJs including Jelly Jazz, Mastervibe, Genius and T boy, Piers (Stereomutants), Robin Parris and Luke Gledhill got the dance floor filled.
Organiser and director of The Bartenders Ball Karl Weston said, "Tonight has been really great fun and it's been brilliant to see everyone all dressed up and letting their hair down after a majorly busy hospitality season. The Bartenders Ball has ploughed a major amount of financial investment, manpower hours and energy into tonight's event and I believe that this commitment will continue to help bolster the all important Newquay bar and hospitality industry."
Karl continues, "Our thriving bar and restaurant business is a major driver for the local economy and our awards are providing much needed recognition for the key players who are transferring our local sector and setting the highest of quality standards. It's great to see the mix of a newcomer like Cullens getting the accolades they deserve and also a favourite on the scene, On The Rocks, winning their categories again. I think the results show that there is huge variation in the demand for different options within our local industry but that it is those who really understand their proposition, and do all possible to exceed the customer's expectations who are voted in as the winners."
