Sarah's Images Highlight a Stronger Narrative
Sarah said "Over recent years I have been fortunate enough to work in several countries of contrasting and inspiring culture and vibrancy; it is through these travels that I captured the majority of my images. My latest body of work features a range of images shot in Cuba, one of these images has been chosen for a merit award with the national 'Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2007'.
The majority of my work is travel related yet in striving to capture the beauty and atmosphere of the places that I visit I employ a variety of journalistic techniques in order to highlight a stronger narrative that traditional travel photography might miss."
What Lies Beneath Traditional Images of Cuba and India
Owner Ruth Macpherson said "Having travelled extensively myself, it is always fantastic to re–visit those countries through someone else's lens. I would encourage anyone who has travelled to come as a reminder of their own adventures, and anyone who hasn't been to these countries to come, to get an interesting glimpse of what lies beneath traditional images of Cuba and India."
Earlier work including 'Fresh Crayfish', awarded fourth place in a competition of 8000 entries for the 'Observer Food Photography Competition 2006' will also be featured on the launch night.
The cafe will be extending its happy hour with 2 glasses of wine for £4 from 5.30pm until 7pm and everyone is welcome. Call the cafe for directions on 01637 850793.
