The Cornwall Air Ambulance was introduced on April 1st 1987 - to provide a rapid and flexible response to medical emergencies at remote and often inaccessible locations in Cornwall and the region.
It was the first air ambulance in the UK and now flies more than 1000 missions a year. Although entirely maintained by public or charitable donations and fund-raising, the helicopter facility is an integral part of the region's ambulance service.
