Cornwall Council is a unitary authority. It was created on 1 April 2009 by merging Cornwall County Council and the six borough and district councils in Cornwall – Caradon, Carrick, Kerrier, North Cornwall, Restormel and Penwith.

Council staff are based in offices, depots and facilities across Cornwall. In fact there are now even more places where you can go for advice and information with an extensive network of one stop shops, a mobile out and about service and in future a wider range of council service information provided in facilities like leisure centres and children's centres.

Cornwall Council offers a wide range of advice and support including housing and council tax benefits, welfare benefits homelessness advice and advice to businesses.
