Cubert School is a Community School for girls and boys aged four to eleven. The School is set in large grounds and there are approximately 130 pupils. Our children mainly come from Cubert, Crantock and Holywell Bay but also further afield from Newquay, St. Newlyn East and Quintrell Downs. The children are taught in five classes which are known as Owls, Skylarks, Lapwings, Swallows and Curlews. Each class may contain more than one age group.
At Cubert School we have the highest possible expectations for all our children and we aim to help pupils develop knowledge, skills and practical abilities; the ability to work hard, the ability to discuss rationally and to think for themselves; a healthy sense of self-esteem; reasoned personal attitudes, values and beliefs; spiritual qualities; and a keen awareness of health and nutrition.
We have a tarmac surface for recreation purposes and a spacious grassed area. There is a large playing field and an all weather multi-purpose hard court. These extensive grounds provide the children with invaluable opportunities, not only for sporting activities, but also to study aspects of plant and animal life.
Cubert School has strong community links. Out of school hours the tennis court is available for hire. Various evening classes are held at the school on a regular basis. We run a weekly senior citizen luncheon club. In May 2004 Cubert Kids Club opened which provides a breakfast club and after school care.
