St Columb Minor School is a large, rural, primary school situated in the centre of St. Columb Minor on the eastern outskirts of Newquay. It is in the traditional heart of the village. We are affectionately known locally as 'Blue School' because of our royal blue uniform. The school provides education for boys and girls between the ages of five and eleven who primarily live in the coastal town of Newquay and the surrounding area.
As a school our vision, mission and aim is in keeping with the local area. We thought about why people come to this area and many of our ideas took on a nautical theme. We thought about the journey of life and how unpredictable it is and that reminded us of waves. We also thought about the fact that all of us are always learning and our prime purpose is to prepare our children for the future for whatever may come their way. So we agreed on: learning to ride the wave of life.
During their time at school, children are given opportunities to take part in extra-curricular activities which take place during the lunch break or after school. The following clubs are available: Running, Football, Tennis, Rounders, Netball, Orcarinas, Gymnastics, CC4G(Computer Club 4 Girls), May-pole dancing.
