Description

St Columb Major Community Primary School is a primary school for boys and girls. It is situated in the former market town of St Columb Major and it is approximately six miles from the seaside resort of Newquay. The school is set in attractive surroundings. The extensive grounds incorporate landscaped gardens with mature shrubs, an attractive pond area, school field with fitness trail and adventure play areas. Over the years new building work to extend the school has been carried out with careful consideration. This has resulted in a pleasant blend of the older Victorian granite with the new bright modern design.

The school is committed to and is pleased to have 'Investors in People' recognition, as well as the Education Business Partnership award and the new ICT Mark for quality use of ICT. The school's extended school team includes a very committed Governing Body, and an enthusiastic 'Friends of St Columb School' who fund raise and organise a range of social events for parents, children and members of the local community.

During their time at school, children are given opportunities to take part in one or more extra-curricular activities which take place during the lunch break or after school. The school is also the centre for local adult education classes, including Computing, Line Dancing, Yoga, Slimming World, Aerobics, as well as Danceworks (dance for children).
