This year is the Golden Jubilee of the club and to mark this important milestone in its history members have arranged a programme of events in Newquay throughout the year. They would love to have all of their past and present members and supporters joining them at these events to help them celebrate this fantastic achievement.

Sunday, 8th June 2008 from 11a.m. The programme begins with an Open Day. The clubhouse on Fistral Beach will be open to all and will feature an exhibition of photographs and memorabilia from the last fifty years. Drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day. On the beach there will be fun and games for all the family and lifesaving demonstrations showing how methods have changed over the last fifty years. The day will be rounded off with a barbecue in the afternoon. All will be completely informal with the emphasis on everyone having a good family day out.

Sunday, 29th June 2008. The club will be hosting the Max Hocking Competition at Fistral Beach. The day will involve the surf lifesavers of tomorrow, the Nippers, from all over Cornwall. They will be taking part in a friendly competition using the skills gained during their training sessions.

30th June, 1st July & 2nd July. Newquay Tretherras School will be putting on a production based around Surf Life Saving and will be opening for three nights. This will be in celebration of 50 years of surf life saving, with a particular emphasis on the Newquay Club. The Show promises to be lots of fun, with the Year 7 and Year 8 students performing amusing tales and anecdotes about the club. In addition to this, the 'Red Arrows' will be performing on Stage! Tickets can be obtained from Tretherras School, nearer to the date, at a price of £4. Monies raised from the 3 performances will be shared between: The Year 8 students R.N.L.I Fund, The Newquay Surf Life Saving Club, and to buy equipment for future Stage Productions at Tretherras School.

Saturday, 27th September 2008. The culmination of the celebrations will be a Jubilee Dinner with dancing to 'The Hub' at the Hotel Bristol in Newquay. Tickets are available at £25 per head and can be obtained by contacting Mrs Nikki Ridgment on 01637 871927.
